This year, we’ve been delighted to welcome more of the people we support into our growing Influencer Network, bringing lived experience to the heart of everything we do.

At our recent Influencer and Champion Day, Charlotte joined us to share her inspiring story. Her journey reflects the positive impact of encouragement, determination and person-led support, and we’re incredibly proud to welcome her into the network.

Charlotte’s Story

Hello everyone, my name is Charlotte.

Since moving in, I have felt so welcome and supported. The staff and management have been so kind to me, and I always try to be kind back. We have built such lovely relationships, and it means a lot to me that the staff care about me and I care about them too. I feel proud of how far I’ve come.

Since I arrived, I have lost over 10kg. That wasn’t easy, but I worked hard, and I didn’t give up. I’m so proud of myself for that. When I first came here, I couldn’t walk because of my weight. But now, I can walk, I can run, and I go on long walks. That makes me feel strong and happy.

The staff at my home have helped me enjoy so many of my favourite things. I love going bowling, cooking, colouring, reading, and going to discos where I can socialise and have fun. These activities make me feel confident and help me enjoy life.

I just want to say thank you to all the staff for supporting me, encouraging me, and helping me become the person I am today. I’m really proud of myself, and I’m excited to keep going and achieve even more.

Building Confidence Through Support and Opportunity

Charlotte’s journey is a powerful example of what can happen when people are supported to build confidence, develop independence and take part in meaningful opportunities.

Since moving into her home, Charlotte has made significant progress in her health, wellbeing and confidence. She has built positive relationships, become more active and embraced opportunities to socialise and connect with others through activities she enjoys.

Her willingness to share her story as part of our Influencer Network highlights the importance of listening to lived experience and ensuring the voices of the people we support remain central to everything we do.
