Peterborough Road, a supported living setting in the Midlands, has been awarded an Excellent rating in all domains in its recent PAMMS review. The result demonstrates the strength of our support and our unwavering focus on safety, independence and personalised care. This follows our East Anglia residential homes Ashwood and Salaca both receiving Good ratings earlier this year.
The inspection highlighted strong governance, high compliance and a consistent focus on independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes. Assessors described Peterborough Road as “a consistently high performing supported living service delivering safe, person centred support.”
Person Led Support
Inspectors found clear evidence that each person’s strengths, preferences and goals shape their support. Care plans were described as comprehensive, personalised and reflective of each person’s independence and lifestyle choices. People enjoy activities that matter to them, including drawing, music, ball games, exercise and community outings. One person proudly shared their artwork with assessors, while another attends a local creative studio where they can “rap and have an authentic experience.” Goal setting is reviewed through regular key-worker discussions and incorporated into care plans to keep people involved and informed.
Involvement, Communication and Accessible Support
People living at Peterborough Road shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, saying they are treated with dignity and kindness, feel safe and supported, enjoy daily life, stay connected with family, friends and their community, and have their choices respected. Staff use PECS, picture cards and easy-read information to support communication, ensuring everyone can participate in decisions about their daily routines and support.
Safeguarding and Safety
Staff were confident in identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, recognising signs such as behaviour changes, bruising or withdrawal. The service uses the RADAR system to track incidents and follow-up actions, promoting transparency and learning across the team. Lessons learned are shared in team meetings to support continued improvement.
Clean, Safe and Well-Maintained Homes
Inspectors found the homes to be clean, tidy and accessible, each with private space and a garden. Fire checks, environmental assessments, infection-control practices, temperature checks and daily safety logs were all consistently completed and recorded, demonstrating strong attention to safety and comfort.
Skilled and Consistent Staffing and Strong Leadership
Rotas showed safe staffing levels, with support delivered by people who know each individual well and understand their communication styles and preferences. Staff complete a full induction aligned with the Care Certificate, receive ongoing training and feel supported through regular supervision. Where agency staff are used, they are familiar with the people living at the service and complete a full induction to ensure continuity.
Leadership was highlighted for regular audits covering medication, safety, finance and quality; clear oversight of incidents and safeguarding; a culture where staff feel listened to; and structured sharing of lessons learned across the team. This approach supports continuous improvement and strong quality assurance.
Peterborough Road is one of several supported living opportunities in the Midlands and forms part of our wider development of high-quality, person-led settings. Recent supported living openings include four new homes at Manor Grange in Peterborough, apartments at Great Whyte and Upwell Lodge in Cambridgeshire, and Riverside Haven in Lincolnshire.
Achieving an Excellent rating in every domain is a significant accomplishment. It reflects the compassion, professionalism and dedication of the team and the strong relationships they build with the people they support.
