Day 4 of Learning Disability Week 2025 was all about See My Community: celebrating the unique contributions, skills, kindness and generosity of the people we support. This theme encouraged everyone to reflect on what they offer to others: through friendship, creativity, cooperation and care.
Just like the national theme Do You See Me?, this day focused on recognising not just who people are, but what they bring to their communities, relationships and daily life.
Why Contribution Matters
Learning Disability Week 2025 continues to be a powerful reminder that everyone has something to give. Whether it’s a smile, a helping hand or a creative skill, people contribute in ways that are meaningful, valued and impactful.
Day 4’s See What I Have to Give theme encouraged us to celebrate that contribution, recognising not just what people do, but the spirit and intention behind it. When we see what each person has to give, we also see their strength, their value and their place in the world.

Sharing Skills and Kindness
Across Liaise homes, people shared the things they enjoy giving to others, from kind words and thoughtful actions to practical support and creative skills. These moments remind us that contribution takes many forms and that everyone has something valuable to offer.
At Crossbrook Court & Cottage, people discussed things they’ve done to help others, such as sharing favourite activities, helping at mealtimes, offering encouragement and supporting peers during group activities.
One individual talked about how much joy they get from offering a smile or helping a friend choose a favourite game. These simple acts of kindness make a big difference in the day‑to‑day lives of others.
Staff Reflections on Contribution
Staff also contributed by sharing what they bring to their roles: compassion, patience, creativity and dedication. Many spoke about how much they learn from the people they support and how this enriches their practice.
“Seeing the generosity and support between people here, whether a kind word or simply being there, makes every day special,” said a support worker.
“I’m proud of the ways everyone gives back to each other – it’s genuine, thoughtful and inspiring.”
These reflections highlight the importance of contributions from both sides of the support relationship.
Cornfields & Cornview
The people from Cornfields and Cornview went on a day trip to The Grange, where they walked and even had a nice picnic in the sunny weather.

They also enjoyed an evening out at the local community centre, where they had a couple of drinks before putting their best moves on the dancefloor.

Crossbrook
Lilas & Shulas
The people we support at Lilas and Shulas enjoy a variety of different activities. They participate in all sorts of indoor and outdoor activities, as well as participating in local social gatherings and community events.
Lulworth & Blake
The people at Lulworth and Blake love to be out in the community they love. From shopping to watching movies at the cinema or drinking at their favourite pub, they find so much joy living their very best life.
