Harry initially explored college, where he found a love for art, crafts, and pottery. When a traditional college environment proved challenging, our staff worked with Harry to find the perfect fit: Smerdon Day Centre. It was an instant success! Harry now attends weekly, creating beautiful pieces of art that fill him with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Inspired by this success, he’s eager to explore even more activities at the day centre – a testament to his growing confidence and ambition.

Beyond his artistic pursuits, Harry enjoys a variety of weekly activities that keep him active and engaged. From swimming and bowling to cinema trips and shopping, his days are packed with enjoyable experiences. Sailing has been a particular highlight, offering him a chance to connect with the outdoors, hone his skills, and experience a wonderful sense of freedom on the water.

 

Mastering Independence: From Finances to Life Skills

One of Harry’s most significant accomplishments has been developing his financial independence. What was once a daunting task is now a skill he handles with confidence. Harry works closely with staff to decide how many items he can purchase during shopping trips, and he consistently sticks to his plan.
