Charlotte was assessed earlier this year, and it was clear she would be a perfect fit for Cornfields. She visited the home a couple of weeks later, which coincided with her birthday! Charlotte instantly loved the kitchen and her future bedroom. By the end of her visit, she told staff she would love to live at Cornfields.
A month later, Charlotte joined us for afternoon tea. She chose hot dogs from the menu and chatted happily with Cornfields’ staff, sharing lots about herself. After the visit, Charlotte and her family felt confident she was ready to move in immediately.
Charlotte officially moved into Cornfields in Spring 2025.
Charlotte’s First Week
Charlotte hit the ground running, embracing her new home:
- Monday: Charlotte attended the May Club disco to reconnect with old school friends. She returned beaming after seeing familiar faces.
- Tuesday: She followed her usual routine, going to the local shop to buy her TV magazine.
- Wednesday: Charlotte visited a local community centre with Mencap to explore life skills sessions. She recognised friends and has decided to join the group.
- Thursday: She tried Active Life’s trampolining club with another resident. She loved it and continues to attend most weeks.
After such a busy week, Charlotte enjoyed a relaxing weekend to rest and recharge.
The following week, she repeated activities and visited Cornfields’ sister home, Cornview, spending time with new people and staying for tea and biscuits. She has since become a regular visitor.
Charlotte has settled in wonderfully. She’s confident about saying what she wants to do and when she wants to go out. The other residents are pleased to welcome her, and it’s clear she’s a great addition to the home.

A Few Words from Charlotte’s Sister, Aimee
“Charlotte’s first week at Cornfields went amazingly. She settled in straight away, much quicker and easier than we expected. The smile on her face and the spring in her step show just how much she loves it.”
