At Liaise, we know that finding the right home for a loved one is one of the most important decisions a family can make. While brochures and websites can provide information, nothing compares to experiencing the atmosphere of a home firsthand, meeting the people who live there, and seeing the support in action.
Recently, Chelsea Chard, one of our dedicated Referrals Partners, had the opportunity to do just that while accompanying a family member who was exploring potential homes for their sister. During the visit, Chelsea spent time at our South East homes, Marlow and Langbury House, gaining a firsthand insight into the warmth, community and person-led support that make our homes so special.
More Than Just a Home
Reflecting on her visit, Chelsea shared:
“One of the highlights of my role at Liaise is visiting our homes and seeing the fantastic activities the people we support are enjoying every day. It’s always a great reminder that a home is about so much more than the building itself. It’s about the people, the atmosphere, and the opportunities to live a fulfilling life.”
At Marlow, the people we support were busy preparing a delicious chicken curry for lunch together. Activities such as cooking not only bring people together but also help develop confidence, independence and everyday living skills in a supportive environment.
Meanwhile, at Langbury House, people were enjoying a lively group music session. The room was filled with singing, laughter and the sound of a wonderful piano performance of an Elton John classic, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved.
Creating Opportunities to Thrive
Visits like these showcase the importance of creating environments where people feel valued, encouraged and empowered to live life their way. Whether it’s learning new skills, taking part in meaningful activities, building friendships or simply enjoying time together, every aspect of life within our homes is centred around the individual.
Chelsea added:
“It was lovely to see everyone engaged, smiling, and spending the afternoon together. Moments like these really highlight the importance of person-led support and creating environments where people can thrive.”
Thank You to Our Teams
We would like to thank the teams at Marlow and Langbury House for the warm welcome they provided and for the dedication, compassion and professionalism they demonstrate every day.
Their commitment helps create vibrant, supportive communities where people can build independence, pursue their interests and enjoy fulfilling lives.
At Liaise, we’re proud of the positive environments our teams create, and we’re always delighted when visitors can experience that for themselves.
